A spectacular "View of Castel Sant'Angelo in Rome", painted by Gaspare Vanvitelli. The Tiber can be seen in the foreground. St Peter's dominates the background, while the castle stands on the right. The Roman palaces also stand out in the background, while closer by are the houses of the Borgo.
Near the bank are the boats carrying goods. Note in particular the boats beyond the bridge too, visible beneath the main arch. The human figures are always in the distance.
In the background, a clear sky with scattered clouds reflected in the waters of the Tiber.
The painting is held by the Musée des Beaux-Arts, Rouen, in France.
