A unique and rare historical view of Castel Nuovo in Naples by Gaspare Vanvitelli. The castle dominates the port, with a fine sailing ship. Busy human activity is shown on the dock. The perspective of the painting is remarkable. Painted with strong contrasts. The sky is clear with a few clouds, and the light is that of morning.
The painting is part of a private collection.
