An original and very fine image depicting Venus and Adonis, painted by Titian.
Venus and Adonis is an oil painting on canvas (106x133 cm (41.7 x 52.4 in)) made in 1560 by the Italian painter Titian. It is kept in the Metropolitan Museum in New York.
The young Adonis does not seem all that satisfied with Venus's love if, at the first glimmer of dawn, he leaves his beautiful lover to go hunting with his hounds. He will soon be killed by the boar, and the goddess will be left only to mourn him.
