View from the Dunes with Beach and Piers, Domburg (1909) is a work by Piet Mondrian from his early period, before his transition to abstraction and Neoplasticism. The painting depicts a view of the coast at Domburg, in the Netherlands, with sand dunes, beach and piers stretching out to sea. Mondrian uses delicate brushstrokes and a natural palette of soft colours that capture the light and atmosphere of the Dutch coast.
The composition shows the artist's attention to the structure of the landscape and the relationship between land, sea and sky, anticipating his later research into simplification and visual harmony.
