The artwork
Between the spring and summer of 1889, Claude Monet devoted himself to a period of intense activity in the Creuse region of central France. Despite the sometimes adverse weather conditions and some health problems, the artist managed to produce a significant number of works depicting the landscapes of this valley.
These paintings, which include "the valley of the Creuse", are part of a series documenting his research on light and atmosphere at different times of the day and in various environmental conditions.
The works created during this period were then exhibited in Paris in the same year, offering the public an opportunity to appreciate Monet's innovative vision in representing the landscape.
