A rare and original painting by Jakob Philipp Hackert depicting warriors on lookout at a mountain pass. Notably, the rocks vary in colour from yellow to grey-green, and the soldier on watch holds the pole bearing the standard, while the other two soldiers sit talking. The scene takes place in the middle of a wood. The clear sky opens up between the trees.
