The artwork
The Trivulzio Altarpiece (also known as the Madonna in Glory with Saints John the Baptist, Gregory the Great, Benedict and Jerome) is a tempera painting on canvas by Andrea Mantegna, dated 1497 and held in the Pinacoteca of the Castello Sforzesco in Milan.
The work, which owes its name to the collection of Prince Luigi Alberico Trivulzio, was originally made for the high altar of the church of Santa Maria in Organo in Verona.
