The work
Marcus Ulpius Nerva Trajan (born September 18, 53 in Italica, Italy, died August 8, 117 in Selinunte, Cilicia) was a Roman emperor and soldier from 98 to 117. Considered by many modern historians as one of the most able and virtuous emperors, under his reign the Roman Empire reached its greatest territorial extension, expanding into Armenia, Assyria, Mesopotamia, Dacia, and Nabatea. Trajan is known for his social welfare policies, including the Institutio Alimentaria to support poor children in Italian cities, and for a vast program of public works that transformed Rome.
