Tiberius, the second Roman emperor, reigned from AD 14 to 37 and was a member of the Julio-Claudian dynasty. Born on 16 November 42 BC, Tiberius was the son of Tiberius Claudius Nero and Livia Drusilla, who later married Augustus, the first Roman emperor.
He was known as a capable military leader and an efficient administrator, who sought to limit Rome's spending and to consolidate the Empire's borders without pursuing new conquests. However, his austere and introverted nature made him unpopular, and his administration was marked by political tensions and repression. Towards the end of his life, he withdrew to Capri, leaving the empire in the hands of others.
