An original and luminous depiction of the Molo in Venice seen from St Mark's Basin, by Giovanni Antonio Canal, known as Canaletto. A distinctive feature of the painting is the shades of yellow and light green used throughout the canvas. In the foreground is the basin with all the boats moored at the quay. The painting shows the column of St Theodore and the Venetian palazzi lining the Molo. The sky is clear, with a few white clouds on the horizon. The painting, an oil on canvas, is undated. Canaletto created numerous variants of this work.
The painting is on display at the Castello Sforzesco, Milan.
