An original and exquisite work depicting the martyrdom of Saint Sebastian, painted by Botticelli.
The Martyrdom of Saint Sebastian is a tempera painting on panel dated January 1473, held in the Gemäldegalerie in Berlin.
The date of the work was legible on the original frame, now lost. The art historian Alessandro Cecchi suggested that the panel was painted by the 20th of the month, the feast day of Saint Sebastian.
