An original and luminous view of the church of Santa Maria della Salute, with a golden-yellow background, by Giovanni Antonio Canal, known as Canaletto. The view is from the entrance to the Grand Canal, plied by boats of various sizes. In the foreground is the quayside of the Molo, with scenes of everyday life. Further back is the Punta della Dogana, with the splendid church of Santa Maria della Salute beside it. The sky is clear, with a few white clouds on the horizon. The painting, an oil on canvas, is undated. Other variants of this work exist.
The painting is on display at the Ateneum Art Museum, Finnish National Gallery, Helsinki, Finland.
