Vincenzo Camuccini's (1771-1844) most famous work on this theme is the monumental oil on canvas painting "The Death of Julius Caesar" (c. 1806), preserved in Naples.
However, as was often the case with major historical works, Camuccini produced numerous drawings, sketches, and preparatory studies for the final composition. This is a masterful example.
