Blue Star by Joan Miró is a work that expresses his mature symbolic language in an essential, poetic way. The star, suspended in an open, silent space, recalls the theme of the cosmos, of infinity and of imaginative freedom. The blue, a colour central to Miró's research, evokes depth, dream and spirituality, transforming the painted surface into a mental rather than a real space.
Thin lines and seemingly childlike signs converse with fields of pure colour, creating a balance between rigour and spontaneity. As in many of the artist's works, formal simplicity conceals a strong emotional intensity: the star becomes a symbol of hope, orientation and the desire to escape earthly reality. Blue Star thus represents a perfect synthesis of abstraction and poetry, confirming Miró as one of the foremost figures of 20th-century art.
