In the foreground is the rectangular square, with the Basilica in the background and the great bell tower of San Marco to the side. On the left side is a large Venetian palace overlooking the square and the clock tower. People are gathered in the square, depicting scenes of daily life.
The sky is clear with a few white clouds on the horizon. The work is dated 1760.
