In the foreground there is the small square with scenes of daily life, and in the background there are the two columns of San Marco and Todaro. On the right side there is a large building framed in perspective, and the entrance to the bell tower of San Marco. The sky is clear with a few white clouds on the horizon.
The painting, an oil on canvas, is dated 1697. There is another variant of this work created by Canaletto.
