Saint George is a Christian martyr saint originally from Cappadocia.
Thanks to his faith in Jesus Christ and in God, he managed to save the city of Selem, in Libya, from an enormous dragon, sent by the devil, which lived in a large lake.
Many painters have dedicated their art to representing the moment in which Saint George kills the dragon, including Tintoretto and Raffaello Sanzio.
