An original and rare 18th-century view of the little island of San Cristoforo, seen from a landing stage on another island, by Giovanni Antonio Canal, known as Canaletto. In the foreground is a flight of steps on which two onlookers are gazing at the landscape. Further back, towards the right, is the island of San Cristoforo. The water is painted in shades of pale green, light brown and light blue, echoing the tones of a cloudy sky.
The painting, an oil on canvas, is dated 1722. Two other versions of this work exist.
