“Romulus and Remus” by Pietro da Cortona depicts the famous myth of the twin founders of Rome, suckled by the she-wolf under the gaze of the shepherd Faustulus. The Baroque artist heightens the dynamism and theatricality of the scene with a lively composition full of light and movement, blending mythology and heroic sentiment.
