The artwork

Girl at the Window (1925) is one of the best-known paintings of Salvador Dalí's early period, made before he officially joined Surrealism. The work depicts a young woman seen from behind, looking out of a window onto the sea at Cadaqués, a place the artist dearly loved. The figure is Ana María, Dalí's younger sister and a frequent model in those years. The scene is constructed with great attention to realism: the light entering through the window, the silence of the interior and the seascape convey an intimate, suspended, contemplative atmosphere.

The painting already reveals Dalí's technical mastery, combined with a domestic, nostalgic feeling. The girl becomes a symbol of expectation, longing for the future and openness to the world. The work stands on the threshold between everyday life and imagination, showing the young Dalí still rooted in reality but already ready to explore more visionary dimensions.
