An original and historic view of Piazza Colonna in Rome, from the mid-18th century, with obelisk, by Lievin Cruyl. The square is crossed by carriages racing along; in the background are other Roman palaces, and on the left side townspeople are talking and pointing to the centre of the square. The sky is shown slightly cloudy. The square is unpaved; the church and the other palaces are shown in the distance. Three other versions of the same picture exist.
