The Prayer for the Flowering of the Rods is a fresco by Giotto, datable to around 1303-1305 and part of the cycle of the Scrovegni Chapel in Padua. It belongs to the Stories of Mary, located in the uppermost register of the left wall, looking towards the altar.
The scene has an atmosphere of expectation and emotional tension; the colours are bright and suffused with light. The plasticity of the figures is accentuated by the chiaroscuro and the robust drawing.
