A rare 18th-century depiction of the Prà della Valle in Padua, by Giovanni Antonio Canal, known as Canaletto. The great meadow stands out, crossed by carriages, travellers and pilgrims to the Santo. On the left side Canaletto paints the church of Santa Giustina and other Paduan buildings. The sky is clear, with a few clouds on the horizon, while the right side is given over to the great meadow. The painting, an oil on canvas, is undated. Canaletto created two other variants of this work.
