Giuseppe Vasi's engraving of the Porto di Ripetta is dated 1754. The work belongs to the series of views engraved by Vasi between 1746 and 1761, which document various places in Rome in detail. The Porto di Ripetta, on the river Tiber, was a lively centre of trade in the 18th century. Vasi's view not only captures the architecture and daily activity of the port, but also includes important landmarks such as the Church of San Girolamo, the dome of the Church of San Rocco and Palazzo Borghese.
