The work
The engraving of the Port of Ripetta by Giuseppe Vasi is dated 1754. The work is part of the series of views engraved by Vasi between 1746 and 1761, which document various places in Rome in detail. The Port of Ripetta, located on the Tiber River, was a lively center of trade in the 18th century. Vasi's view not only captures the architecture and daily activities of the port, but also includes important landmarks such as the Church of San Girolamo, the dome of the Church of San Rocco and the Palazzo Borghese.
