The work
The Port of Ripetta was an exedra on Rome's Tiber riverfront. Alessandro Specchi, a student of Carlo Fontana who had become famous as an engraver, created the design. It stood in front of the church of San Girolamo degli Schiavoni. The port was however destroyed in 1874 with the development of flood defenses and the Tiber road, and replaced by Rome's Ponte Cavour, and its fountain at the top of the port was moved to a nearby site.
