The fresco "Eros Punished in the Presence of Aphrodite" is a Roman work of art from the 1st century AD, found in the House of Love Punished in Pompeii. It is currently held at the National Archaeological Museum of Naples. The scene depicts Eros, the god of love, in chains, led by the goddess Peitho (Persuasion) before Aphrodite, his mother, who sits on a rock beside Anteros, the symbol of requited love. The fresco illustrates the theme of discipline and control of the passions, highlighting the importance of balance in human emotions.
