The artwork
A bright and original view of the Obertor with a southern view of the town of Pirna, painted by Bernardo Bellotto. The castle stands out on the right side, on a small hill and is well-lit, while the town of Pirna is further down the valley with its houses and palaces, from which the bell tower and church emerge. On the right side there is a large, brightly lit green meadow where oxen graze, watched over by a shepherd. The sky is clear, but there are a few clouds on the horizon.
The painting, an oil on canvas, is undated. Another variant of this work exists.
