The artwork
A bright and original view of the town of Pirna from the Elbe, painted by Bernardo Bellotto. The town and its houses are prominent on the right side, while the castle stands on a hill. The Elbe River is the main element of the painting, and in its waters, with several boats traversing, the town of Pirna is reflected. The sky is clear, but there are a few clouds on the horizon.
The painting is dated circa 1756. Another version of this work exists, using different colors.
The painting is exhibited at the San Diego Museum of Art, USA.
