This plan and perspective view of the city of Palermo, made using the copper engraving technique and dating from 1730, is the work of the German publisher, cartographer and engraver from Augsburg, Gabriel Bodenehr.
The work is included in the famous collection "Curioses Staats und Kriegs Theatrum beeder konigreich Neapolis und Sicilien", from around 1730. The collection focuses on the kingdoms of Naples and Sicily, offering a combination of geographical maps, topographical views and illustrations of historical and military events in these regions. For example, engravings of Messina and Palermo from this work are known. This work belongs to the genre of the "Theatrum" (theatres), a popular format in the early modern period that presented geographical, historical and political information through images and text.
