Mural is an explosion of energy and colour: on a monumental surface, Pollock arranges abstract forms and biomorphic signs that overlap in a continuous flow. Warm, earthy tones alternate with cooler, more dynamic lines, creating a tension between depth and surface. Despite the presence of recognisable elements, such as anthropomorphic figures or plant-like shapes, the composition has no dominant centre: every section of the canvas takes part in the overall movement.
The act of painting — already anticipating the technique of action painting — dominates the work, making visible the artist's gesture, body and spontaneity. The result is a field of pulsating energy, where form and abstraction coexist and converse, turning the wall into an immersive experience. Mural marks a moment of rupture with tradition and lays the foundations for the revolution of American abstract art.
