On the left side there is the church of Santa Maria della Salute, slightly veiled by the sunset light. On the opposite side there are Venetian palaces arranged side by side along the bank of the Grand Canal. The sky is clear with a few pinkish-white clouds on the horizon.
The painting, an oil on canvas, is undated and is exhibited at Culzean Castle, Maybole, Scotland. Other variations of this work exist.
