The crossing of the Red Sea is perhaps the most famous and well-known part of the Book of Exodus.
Fleeing the Egyptian army, the people of Israel flee, led by Moses. But since the enemies were almost ready to slaughter them, and only the great Red Sea prevented the people from advancing to safety, Moses asks for God's help, accomplishing an extraordinary feat.
Moses splits the sea with his staff, allowing the Israelites to walk on dry ground and escape. Then, when the Egyptians pursued them, the sea closed again, submerging the enemy army.
