The artwork The Death of Caesar, by Raffaele Giannetti, is an oil painting on canvas made in 1879. The painting depicts the assassination of Julius Caesar, the celebrated Roman general and statesman, which took place on 15 March 44 BC. The painting is inspired by William Shakespeare's tragedy Julius Caesar, in particular Act III, Scene I, in which Caesar is stabbed by his enemies, among them his friend Brutus.
The painting is on display at the Museo Nazionale d'Abruzzo in L'Aquila. It is regarded as a work of great historical and artistic value, bearing witness to Giannetti's passion for ancient history and English literature.
