The work
The work Death of Caesar, by Raffaele Giannetti, is an oil painting on canvas created in 1879. The painting depicts the scene of the assassination of Julius Caesar, the famous Roman leader and politician, which took place on 15 March 44 BC. The painting is inspired by the tragedy Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, in particular act III, scene I, in which Caesar is stabbed by his enemies, including his friend Brutus.
The painting is exhibited at the National Museum of Abruzzo in L'Aquila. It is considered a work of great historical and artistic value, which testifies to Giannetti's passion for ancient history and English literature.
