The work
Marcus Aurelius, known as a Roman emperor, philosopher and writer, reigned from 161 to 180. Adopted by Antoninus Pius on the advice of Hadrian, he faced Parthian and Marcomannic wars, famines and plagues. Considered a "good emperor", Marcus Aurelius is also famous for his "Conversations with himself", reflections on Stoic philosophy. His reign saw war conflicts but also an enlightened government.
