This Mappa Mundi from 1502 belongs to the great tradition of late medieval and Renaissance nautical charts, where the representation of the world combines practical function and symbolic value. Created in an era of oceanic explorations and growing interest in geography, it shows a universe still in transformation: coasts, islands, and sea routes are carefully traced, but coexist with decorative elements, toponyms, and images that reflect the worldview of the time. The map testifies to the transition from medieval to modern cartography, when the experience of navigators began to correct and expand ancient knowledge. It is therefore a valuable document of the history of discoveries and the geographical culture of the early sixteenth century.

Our reproductions are faithful to the original and printed on fine Amalfi paper.
It is a paper made exclusively from cotton fibers, thick and naturally porous, yet soft to the touch, with characteristic deckled edges that attest to its artisanal production.
It is still made today according to ancient medieval techniques, in the workshops of Amalfi.
