Historical and imaginary map of 16th-century America created by Henry Justice Ford. It is a color lithograph.

The map illustrates a part of "Cipangu" China, while for America there is Florida and some Caribbean islands. On this map, China and America form a single continent. It is therefore an imaginary America, very different from reality, with the borders of the American continent not well defined. The map dates back to the reign of Henry VII.

Henry Justice Ford (London, 1860 – 1941) was an English artist who worked from 1886 until the late 1920s.

Feel history under your fingers

Our reproductions are faithful to the original and printed on fine Amalfi paper.

It is a paper made exclusively from cotton fibers, thick and naturally porous, yet soft to the touch, with characteristic deckled edges that testify to its handcrafted production.

It is still made today using ancient medieval techniques in the workshops of Amalfi.
