Historical bird's-eye map of the city of Mantua from the late 16th century, created by Georg Braun. It is part of the "Civitates Orbis Terrarum" collection.
The map shows Mantua set amid the lakes of the Mincio, as if it were a second Venice. In the lower part of the map the bridge linking Mantua to the mainland stands out. As can be seen, the lakes were larger at the time than they are today. In the lower left corner of the map is an inscription.
Georg Braun also known as Brunus or Bruin, was a German cartographer.
