Map of Cambridge from 'Civitates Orbis Terrarum' by Georg Braun and Frans Hogenberg, created by Joris Hoefnagel around 1572.
The map depicts the district where the famous London university is located. On the left side there is a herald with the Cambridge coat of arms and an inscription. On the opposite side, in the upper corner, there is a legend.
The map thus illustrates the Cambridge district with its streets and main buildings, including those of the university.
Georg Hoefnagel or Hufnagel was a Flemish painter, cartographer and illustrator.
