Historical map of the Moon's orbit around the Earth, created by Andreas Cellarius. This map is from "A Celestial Atlas, or The Harmony of the Universe" published by Joannes Janssonius, Amsterdam, 1660-61.
The map shows the Earth at the center, with the Moon's orbits externally. The zodiac is also depicted. Allegories are present on the outer part of the map.
Andreas Cellarius (Neuhausen, circa 1596 – Hoorn, 1665) was a German-Dutch cartographer, best known for his work Harmonia Macrocosmica from 1660, a star atlas published by Jan Janssonius in Amsterdam.
