Historical and allegorical map of Europe from the late 19th century; it is a colour lithograph.
In the left-hand corner of the map is a French soldier with the year of the revolution above him, while on the right is Napoleon with 1815 above him, the year of the Russian campaign. Each European state is represented by a face (caricature), its size given by the extent of the state; the largest is that of Russia.

Our reproductions are extremely faithful to the original and printed on fine Amalfi paper.
It is a paper made exclusively from cotton fibres, thick and naturally porous, yet soft to the touch, with the characteristic deckled edges that bear witness to its handcrafted making.
It is still made today using ancient medieval techniques, in the workshops of Amalfi.
