This map of Egypt, attributed to al-Idrisi's cartographic tradition, is a circular map from the medieval Islamic world, with South at the top and North at the bottom, according to Arab custom of the time. The large blue ring represents the ocean surrounding the inhabited world, while Egypt and the course of the Nile, highlighted in red, are part of a broader view of the Mediterranean and the Near East. The map does not aim for metric precision, but rather to synthesize Greco-Arab geographical knowledge and travel information, combining Arabic toponyms with a vibrant chromatic and symbolic code. It is therefore a valuable document for understanding how 14th-century Islamic scholars conceived Egypt within the Afro-Eurasian ecumene.

Our reproductions are faithful to the original and printed on precious Amalfi paper.
It is a paper made exclusively from cotton fibers, thick and naturally porous, but soft to the touch, with the characteristic frayed edges that attest to its artisanal craftsmanship.
It is still produced today according to ancient medieval techniques, in the workshops of Amalfi.
