Historical map of Tartary from the early 17th century created by John Speed in 1626.

The map represents Tartary as it was in the early 17th century. It indicates the largest cities, rivers, and mountain systems. On the upper side, there are small panels depicting some characteristic places of Tartary. On the sides, there are other rectangular panels with portraits of people in local costumes.

John Speed was an English cartographer and historian.

Our reproductions are faithful to the original and printed on fine Amalfi paper.

It is a paper made exclusively from cotton fibers, thick and naturally porous, yet soft to the touch, with characteristic deckled edges that attest to its artisanal craftsmanship.

It is still made today using ancient medieval techniques in the workshops of Amalfi.
