Historical map of the planets' orbits created by Andreas Cellarius according to Tycho Brahe's indications. It is a hand-colored engraving.

The map represents the planetary system with the Sun at the center and the other planets orbiting around it. Outside the orbits are the zodiac signs.

In the corners of the map are allegories taken from mythology and the classical world. In the lower right corner, Tycho Brahe is depicted with his globe.

Andreas Cellarius (Neuhausen, c. 1596 – Hoorn, 1665) was a German-Dutch cartographer, best known for his work Harmonia Macrocosmica from 1660, a star atlas published by Jan Janssonius in Amsterdam.

Tycho Brahe (Danish: Tyge Brahe), formerly also called Ticone in Italian, born Tyge Ottesen, Brahe was a Danish astronomer and astrologer of the 16th century.

Our reproductions are faithful to the original and printed on precious Amalfi paper.

It is a paper composed exclusively of cotton fibers, thick and naturally porous, yet soft to the touch, with characteristic deckled edges that attest to its artisanal craftsmanship.

It is still made today following ancient medieval techniques, in the workshops of Amalfi.
