Historical world map created by Guillaume Delisle in 1740.
The map represents the world as it was known in the mid-eighteenth century. Meridians and parallels are present.
In the corners outside the hemispheres, the Earth's poles are depicted. While in the center there are allegories. The map was drawn using the observations of the gentlemen of the Royal Academy of Sciences and some others. North America is highlighted with borders that do not conform very well to current ones.
Guillaume Delisle was a French cartographer and geographer.

Our reproductions are faithful to the original and printed on precious Amalfi paper.
It is a paper composed exclusively of cotton fibers, thick and naturally porous, yet soft to the touch, with characteristic deckled edges that testify to its artisanal craftsmanship.
It is still made today according to ancient medieval techniques, in the workshops of Amalfi.
