Historical map of the Earth by Ptolemy, created by Ptolemy himself around 1482.
The map depicts the Earth as not spherical, and indicates the lands known at that time. According to Ptolemy, outside the Earth were the winds that blow and stir the seas. It is noteworthy how the Earth is divided into meridians and parallels that are graduated at the extremities.
Claudius Ptolemy (Kláudios Ptolemàios in Latin, Claudius Ptolemaeus) was an Egyptian astrologer, astronomer, and geographer with Roman citizenship. He authored important scientific works, the main one being the astronomical treatise known as the Almagest.

Our reproductions are faithful to the original and printed on fine Amalfi paper.
It is a paper made exclusively from cotton fibers, thick and naturally porous, yet soft to the touch, with characteristic deckled edges that attest to its artisanal craftsmanship.
