Historical world map created by Hartmann Schedel in 1493.
The map represents the world as it was known at the end of the fifteenth century. It does not include meridians or parallels.
Outside the hemispheres, there are allegories taken from mythology and the classical world. On all four sides, there are portraits of famous figures. All along the perimeter, the winds are depicted blowing. The map contains inscriptions.
Hartmann Schedel was a German physician, historian, and humanist, one of the first cartographers to use the printing technique.

Our reproductions are extremely faithful to the original and printed on precious Amalfi paper.
It is a paper made exclusively from cotton fibers, thick and naturally porous, yet soft to the touch, with characteristic deckled edges that attest to its artisanal craftsmanship.
It is still produced today using ancient medieval techniques in the workshops of Amalfi.
