Historical World map from the first half of the sixteenth century created by Oronce Finé.
The map depicts the world on a particular heart-shaped chart, divided into meridians and parallels, with the outlines of the continents of the time. It is a physical map, highlighting the largest rivers known at the time. The map is inserted inside a kind of tabernacle with two columns on the sides, where, in the lower position, in the right and left corners, there are inscriptions in Latin.
Oronzio Fineo, in French Oronce Finé, in Latin Orontius Finnaeus (Briançon, December 20, 1494 – Paris, August 8, 1555) was a French mathematician, cartographer, and astrologer.

Our reproductions are faithful to the original and printed on fine Amalfi paper.
It is a paper composed exclusively of cotton fibers, thick and naturally porous, yet soft to the touch, with the characteristic deckled edges that attest to its artisanal craftsmanship.
It is still made today according to ancient medieval techniques in the workshops of Amalfi.
