A late 17th-century historical physical map of Canada created by Jean Baptiste Louis Franquelin.
The map illustrates Canada, with its main rivers and cities. In the upper right corner is the coat of arms of the French crown, while in the lower right there is an illustration of Quebec.
Jean-Baptiste-Louis Franquelin was a French merchant who was appointed by the governor of the colony in the early 1670s as the first cartographer of New France (Canada). In 1688, he was appointed Royal Hydrographer by Louis XIV.

Our reproductions are faithful to the original and printed on fine Amalfi paper.
It is a paper made exclusively from cotton fibers, thick and naturally porous, yet soft to the touch, with characteristic deckled edges that attest to its artisanal craftsmanship.
It is still made today according to ancient medieval techniques in the workshops of Amalfi.
