Historical map of the Routes of Santiago de Compostela, engraved by D. Serveaux in 1648.

The map shows France and part of Spain, and indicates with a thin red line the routes and paths most used by pilgrims of the time to reach Santiago de Compostela.

As can be seen, the paths developed throughout France, branching out, and all leading to the single common Spanish destination.

Note in the upper right side of the map a "Legend" of the main meeting points.

D. Serveaux was an important cartographer who lived in the sixteenth century.

Feel history at your fingertips

Our reproductions are faithful to the original and printed on fine Amalfi paper.

It is a paper composed exclusively of cotton fibers, thick and naturally porous, yet soft to the touch, with characteristic deckled edges that testify to its artisanal craftsmanship.

It is still made today according to ancient medieval techniques, in the workshops of Amalfi.
