The work
Raphael's "Solly Madonna", created between 1500 and 1504, is a masterpiece that captures the divine tenderness between the Virgin and Baby Jesus, who holds a goldfinch symbol of passion. The work, illuminated by brilliant colors and the influence of the master Perugino, shows a hilly landscape that adds depth and serenity to the scene. The golden star on the Madonna's cloak evokes the title "Stella Maris".
This enchanting composition not only expresses purity and spirituality, but also marked the beginning of Raphael's fame, establishing him as an extraordinary artist. It is preserved at the Gemäldegalerie in Berlin.
